Red Hot in Hancock is back sponsoring the Chili for Children cookoff fundraiser to be held Saturday, October 1, 2016 from noon until 6:00pm rain or shine. Chili cooks from West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and beyond will compete for cash prizes at the Weirton Event Center located at 3322 East St. in downtown Weirton, WV.

All proceeds will benefit the non-profit, A Child's Place CASA Ltd., who provides court appointed advocates for abused and neglected children in the tri-county area. We look for this event to become our signature fundraiser for years to come.

ICS LogoThe event is also sanctioned by official International Chili Society (ICS) competition. The ICS is a nonprofit organization that sanctions chili cookoffs with judging and cooking rules/regulations. The events are worldwide and benefit charities and nonprofit organizations. All winners of ICS-sanctioned cookoffs qualify to compete for cash prizes and awards at the World's Championship Chili Cookoff held each year in October. The ICS is the largest food contest/festival organization in the world.

While admission is free, attendees can buy tasting tickets to sample the contestant prepared chili and salsa.  There will be chili tasting, music, a tug-of-war tournament, kid’s events, prizes, raffles and fun for the entire family. We expect 1000-1500 people to attend.

We are currently looking for sponsors, "Chili Heads"  and vendors.

Like-minded sponsors can expect to be included in advertising including media, banners and signs, receive free t-shirts and event tickets, table space at the event, and voting rights for their favorite chili in the Sponsor's Choice category.

The prize package is worth more than $1,400. Chili cooks must be members of the ICS showing current proof of membership or join/renewing by the start of the event.

Restaurants, pubs and  media may compete in the Commercial category providing 5 gallons of chili.

There is no fee for 501(c) non-profit organizations, however, all vendors are asked to contribute a $10 or more valued door prize to the raffle.
